Biographie
Vincent Toulotte né le 3 janvier 1979, s’est d’abord orienté vers le 7ème Art. Diplômé de l’Université Paris VIII en Etudes Cinématographiques et Audiovisuelles, porte son intérêt vers le médium photographique, cherchant un ralliement avec la réalisation.
Il débute en tant qu’assistant décorateur, ce qui lui donnera le goût de l’objet et la sensibilité du décor, qui lui parle, donnant naissance à sa création, à son inspiration.
Remarqué par la Galerie Benchaieb Paris, il expose ses premières oeuvres au côté de David Hamilton, Irina Ionesco, Michel Giliberti, Vladimir Telepnev… Remporte en 2005 le concours Art et Technologie organisé par Dexxon en représentant Konica Minolta France.
De ses photographies émanent une ambiance très proche de celle du cinéma noir français des années 40 – Renoir, Carné, Clouzot – en passant par l’expressionnisme allemand de Fritz Lang, Wiene, sans oublier Carl Théodore Dreyer avec Vampyr et Ordette ou encore Tod Browning avec Freaks. C’est donc en termes de mise en scène que ses œuvres sont pensées.
Après tout, un film n’est-il pas tout simplement de la photographie en mouvement ?
” La photographie est un mode d’expression extraordinaire qui me pousse à aller au-delà des sentiers traditionnels. L’image est la matrice, une icône, un symbole qui ne se suffit à elle-même. Le travail de plasticien correspond à une quête d’identité, à une volonté de changer la dimension de l’image, de révéler son sens profond en façonnant son univers. J’imagine ma propre couleur, des couleurs qui m’apparaissent par flashes en regardant mon tirage en noir et blanc, qui révèlent un monde fantasque, le mien. “
C’est suite à la visite d’une exposition de Gauguin au Grand Palais, qu’il ” devient fou de peinture “, puisant dans l’impressionnisme et d’autres grands maîtres tel Dali, Caravage, Raphaël, Ingres… C’est cette huile coulée sur toile qui donne naissance à son travail.
Un travail d’artisan, souligne-t-il. Voilà maintenant 13 ans, qu’autodidacte, il apprivoise son métier, qu’il façonne de ses mains : de la prise de vue à la finalisation, tout est opéré par ses soins. Il photographie, développe ses films, procède au tirage à l’agrandisseur, puis opère son travail de plasticien. De ce fait, chaque pièce est unique en soi, telle une peinture.

In his stagings, often erotic, woman is the attraction point. Her body’s expression proves their intense presence, often fragile, always deeply moving.

Vincent Toulotte was initially oriented 7th Art. A graduate of the University of Paris He developed a passion for the staged photography.
He started as an assistant designer, which will give him a taste of the object and the sensitivity of the set , giving birth to his creation, his inspiration.
Noticed by the Gallery Benchaieb Paris, he exhibited his first works alongside David Hamilton, Irina Ionesco, Michel Giliberti, Vladimir Telepnev … He won the 2005 contest organized by Art and Technology Dexxon representing Konica Minolta France.
His photographs come from an environment very similar to that of French film noir of the 40 – Renoir, Carné, Clouzot – through the German expressionism of Fritz Lang, Wien, Carl Theodore Dreyer with Vampyr and Ordet or Tod Browning with Freaks. His artworks are conceived in terms of staging .
After all, a film is not just photography in motion?
“Photography is an extraordinary form of expression that drives me to go beyond the traditional paths. The image is the matrix, an icon, a symbol that stands on its own sensibility. Colorization is a quest of identity, a desire to change the size of the image, to reveal its meaning in shaping his world. I guess my colors, from my black and withe pictures, reveal a world of fantastic, mine. “
It was after the visit of a Gauguin exhibition at the Grand Palais, he “goes crazy paint” drawing and other Impressionist masters such as Dali, Caravaggio, Raphael, Ingres … It is pouring oil on canvas that gives birth to his work.
A craftsmanship. It is now 13 years old, an autodidact, he tames his job and he fashions with his hands: from the shooting to finalization of his works, everything is operated by him.
He photographs, develops his own films, works on and transforming the reality, he operates his work as a visual artist.
